This morning POP Montreal announced the first wave of bands playing the festival in September, and it's as eclectic and exciting as always. Well, maybe a little more eclectic this time around since Sheryl Crow is in the mix.
Sun Kil Moon is at the Ukrainian Federation on Sept. 17 while The Wooden Sky hits Sala Rossa. On Sept. 20 Ty Segall is headlining Club Soda and Panda Bear is at the Theatre Rialto (where Colin Stetson and Tim Hecker staged their earth-shattering POP show last year). Timber Timbre's previously announced Metropolis show on Sept. 19 is also part of the festival.
It's the fest's 13th year, running Sept. 17 - 21. The full lineup (with some 400 acts booked) will be announced August 27 at a free A Tribe Called Red show at Place Émilie-Gamelin.
Killer post-rock-meets-black-metal Sargent House band Deafheaven is playing the fest at some point too.
